6 Word Video/Photo Memoirs (15 seconds)

Hello CAP 10 Students,

Your homework is to find a few video and or photo clips that you can use to create your 6 word video memoir tomorrow in class. You can use footage that you already have or shoot something new. Either way, you must have these clips available to download tomorrow during class.

You don't have to be in any of the clips yourself - that's up to you.

HERE'S THE LINK to the assignment. We will go over again tomorrow morning in class before you start editing your short memoir. I look forward to seeing what each of you create. Get some cool clips!

C-SPAN CLIPS

Hello,

It's required that each group include multiple C-SPAN clips in their films. C-SPAN has a powerful search engine that allows you to search through their archives using key words. You can access the C-SPAN archives here: https://www.c-span.org/about/videoLibrary

Once you find a clip you want you need to identify the exact part of the video you need. For example, if you find an hour long video you'll need to identify which parts of the video you need.

Once you've identified multiple clips you can email C-SPAN. C-SPAN will clip out the parts you requested and will send you high quality clips you can include in your film. They're usually pretty quick in responding. Email C-SPAN using this address: educate@c-span.org to request the clips you need.

Mayo's Sub Plans - Monday 10/22

Hello everyone,

Unfortunately, I will be out again today. You will continue to develop your Dystopian Trailers in your groups. In your groups, follow the directions below:
  1. Bring up the Dystopian Project Proposal you were working on last class:
    Dystopian Project Proposal
  2. Scroll down the Dystopian Trailer Proposal to the Three Act Structure part (right under question 8). You must include important plot points from your fictitious story in your trailer.
Spend time developing all the scenes you plan to film for your trailer following the Three Act Structure. Most groups usually have anywhere from 5 to 7 total scenes that make up their trailers. If you want, you can get creative with how you plan out your story. For example, you can use some of the large white post it note papers to lay lay everything out. This is a photo from my middle school students years ago planning out a short film:

It's helpful to use a large piece of paper to develop everything that's going to happen in your trailer.
  3. The next step involves writing your script. THE TWO COLUMN SCRIPT TEMPLATE IS ON THE BOTTOM OF The Dystopian Project Proposal. You are limited to 2 minutes (before credits roll) for your trailer. So your script shouldn't be longer than two pages. It's important to include EVERYTHING in your script that you plan to include in your trailer. Sound effects, music, text slides, dialogue, action, etc.

PLEASE DIVIDE YOUR SCRIPT INTO THE THREE ACTS.
I will sit with each group Wednesday and grade this work. The final step after this is creating your storyboards. But we will do that Wednesday.

PLEASE START REVIEWING YOUR CALENDARS SO YOU CAN FIGURE OUT WHEN YOU WILL BE ABLE TO FILM. THE GOAL IS THAT EVERYONE IS READY TO FILM BY THE END F THIS WEEK.

Sub Plans for Thur & Fri (Sept 13 & 14)

Hello,

Today's assignment can be found on my Google Classroom. Many students did not turn in a word wall poster last class? Not sure why. These easy assignments will be your first grades this quarter and you only have this class time to complete. Everyone should have created and submitted their own word wall poster. Just as everyone must complete and submit FOUR Three Aspects of Film Handouts today. Make sure to get everything done as I will not take work submitted after today as you have ample class time to complete!

If you have extra time in class once you complete this assignment please use it wisely working on homework. I'm sure at this point everyone has homework they can catch up on. Thanks and see you soon.

I will print all these out in color and hang around the room. More detailed directions are on the assignment handouts posted on my Google Classroom.

Look forward to seeing your work.

  4. Include a Title Slide at the beginning with an original title
  5. Add a Credit Slide at the end citing the source of your music
